EVERY LIE WE TELL INCURS A DEBT TO THE TRUTH. SOONER OR LATER THAT DEBT IS PAID.

Ever since I published my post ‘Two Matts & Tweets And That Don’t Age Well’, I have received quite a bit of feedback, mostly in the form of emails. Unfortunately a lot of people are still afraid to put their names out there and comment on the post, having been associated with TVC in the past, and now in a current state of disillusion or downright anger at what is happening. I can respect that, because the tentacles of The Village Church reach far and wide. Almost anyone who lives and works in the DFW area knows someone who attends or is employed at that church. For some, it might be their boss or co-worker, which makes speaking out against the church dangerous to their very livelihood.
I have received two emails regarding the ‘timeline’ that I posted in regards to what The Village Church knew about Matt Tonne and when they chose to disclose that to the congregation. One of those emails had the subject line, ‘Filling In a Gap‘.
Matt Chandler has said numerous times that he named Matt Tonne as the person of interest in the case when it became a matter of public record. At the SBC19 interview he said,
“As soon as we found out he was indicted and an arrest warrant was issued on this case, we made it public.”
But then there’s this:
PRIDE GOETH BEFORE A FALL.....
During a recent sermon on 6/16/19, entitled ‘Led By Him‘, Chandler again addressed the Tonne case and basically said that The Village Church deserved a pat on the back for ‘breaking the story’ (poor choice of words) by releasing Tonne’s name in January 2019, when in fact, the only reason Chandler revealed it was because the Bragg family was about to do so. (See the NY Times article).
Matt Chandler is lying.
The posturing that The Village Church is doing in an attempt to defend their handling of this case is absolutely horrible. All I have heard Matt Chandler do, time and again, is defend, project, blame-shift and absolve himself any responsibility in the mishandling of this horrible situation.
I was informed that The Village Church is having a Membership Meeting this weekend, so I’ll be watching and waiting to see what is said. Matt Chandler doesn’t like bloggers, so when we reveal that he’s being ‘less than honest’ or there’s other trouble in the camp (see my post Does The Village Church Have a Domestic Abuse Problem), I guess he calls a family meeting. Of course he makes an exception for Lore Ferguson Wilbert’s blog, Sayable, but that’s a future post you’ll want to stay tuned for.
“Almost anyone who lives and works in the DFW area knows someone who attends or is employed at that church. For some, it might be their boss or co-worker, which makes speaking out against the church dangerous to their very livelihood. ” ++++++++++++++++++ this seems so dangerous to me. like a monopoly on “thought”. thought control. governments can intervene and regulate monopolies in the economic realm. if the government can’t do anything in this realm, the citizenry should do something. why does DFW society approve of and go along with such things? Seems absolutely crazy. ——————————————- “I was informed that… Read more »
